February 2014 Update

Hi All,

Been  busy organizing and preparing for doing more work in the Music Business. I have a new website and am very happy. I am teaching more now than I have in the past and would like to keep up with that. I enjoy teaching and really get  a kick out of making someone smile as they play their first guitar chord or drum riff. I have been fortunate over the years to have had some very good students.

Starting to get more gigs as the winter turns to spring. Gigs are always slow after Christmas. As I start to get a little more well known throughout the biz, I am starting to freelance with other bands. I find freelancing to be a lot of fun.

I reworked the studio setup to better reflect the new gear I have accumulated. My wife bought me a Baby Bottle mic (BLUE microphones), for Christmas.  I also bought a Tama Silverstar drumset with an 18″ kick drum. I wanted to get something separate to gig with instead of having to tear down and set up my ‘recording’ kit all the time. I’ve only used the Tama kit this past weekend so I am still undecided if I will keep them. Remember to support live music wherever you are!

January 16, 2014

Hi All,

Well, another year has come and gone and with it … my day job! I have given it some thought as to what I would do now. I have decided to pursue opportunities in the music business (teaching and playing) while keeping up with tech type stuff. I’ve always had an interest in the Graphics and Media fields so will look for opportunities there also.

Had a quiet New Year. Got together with a few friends and jammed. Sophie and the Shufflehounds has been rehearsing weekly as of late and has added a few new tunes as a result. KickbacK continues to rehearse every Wednesday. Each of the members of this band continue to challenge themselves on their individual instruments. Lots of fun!

Looking forward to doing more recording, (and mixing) this year.

Talk to you all again soon,

Ray
