Hi All,

It’s been a busy schedule for me lately. Our long time Bass player has decided to leave the band so I have been looking high and low for a replacement. I’ve got a couple of players in mind to try.

The band with Mike Chenoweth, (The Shufflehounds), has a few gigs coming up.
Look for us at Goodfellas on Aug. 25.

As well as my own band, (I am changing the name from KickbacK to The Grey Men), I am drumming for a 7 piece band that will play mainly corporate or party gigs. We played a very successful show at Festival Place in Sherwood Park for the first night of their ‘Patio Series’. We have a private gig coming up September 9.

The Grey Men has a gig at The Leaf on September 28. First gig with a new Bass player!

All of these bands, require a certain amount of individual practice and band rehearsals so I have been playing a lot of drums lately.

… and the Saturday jam is still going great guns! We have developed quite a little community of players! C’mon down and check it out!

Hi All,

Well. our trip to Mexico is a distant memory now. (middle of March). We decided to go somewhere different this year and chose Puerto Vallarta. We really lucked out because there just happened to be a Jazz Festival happening! Fantastic! We stayed about a 10 minute walk from the action. It’s always fun jamming with the locals and I try to do that whenever I travel. I did sit in for about an hour and a half with a band playing on the beach. As you might expect, played some great Latin grooves.

Back at home, the Saturday Jam continues. We all celebrated the 1 year anniversary of us starting the Leaf Homemade Jam. Warren is taking some more time off over the summer so George Hauser will take over the Bass Guitar duties when he is absent. I booked Howard to play the same dates so it will be KickbacK hosting for a few dates. Howard has been up for any dates I have asked him to do and has almost become the ‘house guitar player’ for the jam.
